Used to really rate the carvery... havent been for a while but we were in Romsey recently so popped in... place was empty at 3pm on a Sunday, which should have been a huge warning sign....as in my memory if you hadn’t booked then you’d be waiting at least an hour.... Absolutely shocking food, service was poor, food had been sat out for at least an hour, was dry or gloopy. Flys everywhere inside.... we actually went a... View all feedback.
Pretty underwhelming lunch. Food was quite heavy and not particularly tasy. Nice to have outdoor family area playground but inside it smelled slightly odd which made the place feel a bit unclean though it probably wasn't.
Not great... Several beers off (Fosters!!? Heineken was off in terms of 'gone off ' and the Corona was served warm. Disappointing on a hot evening
I thought I was treating my wife to a great Sunday carvery but when I arrived I waited 35 minutes just to get service but after getting a table I ordered two Sunday carverys we then waited at the food counter for another 20 mins even when the chef came in and out of the kitchen he did not explain to us what the hold up was we then asked another member of staff saying that they were waiting on the Yorkshire puddings so when we then returned back to our table and we yet waited another 20 mins then when we returned to the counter everything looked dry and inedible so I asked if there was a fresh turkey joint available and the chef said it was on its way but to my disappointment it was a re-constructed into a roll so when the chef sliced into the joint it just crumbled into bits, and when I finally sat down I put the first bite into my mouth and the taste was disgusting it had a bitter taste and when one of the staff came over to see if everything was o.k with our meals I said absolutely not I did explain she did ask if I wanted a different meat but I declined I just wanted to leave I do like my Sunday carverys but this was the worst ever I personally think that the staff are too young and inexperienced so shame on the family that owns this establishment.
The Malthouse has closed down. Soon to reopen as a new pub with a new name.
Not good.As soon as we arrived at 12pm we were told no tuna egg mayo prawns fish cakes or brown baguettes !!!! Only people in restaurant at lunchtime . We orderered food i asked for a cappuccino they had run out of milk so the chef had to go and get some from local shop. 15 minutes after paying i asked if he was back it took another 5 minutes Food all ordered for same table at same time but all came out separate times.first food was finished before last order came out even though explained we were all together. Ordered 2 cappuccinos which came out in espresso sized cups as apparently ran out of large cups but were still charged 2.75.We were given another small cup of cappuccino but this time without a saucer. Not a place I would visit again especially as they seem to encourage dogs in to eat a carvery. I love dogs but certainly don't want to eat with them. We were told busiest day if the week so where was the prep.Won't be going in again.
