Portofino Caffe - Roma

We stopped in Portofino Caffe purely by chance as a pit stop on the way back to our hotel We were more than pleasantly surprised by the drinks and L’appetivos! Lovey service, amazing small bites and gorgeous Prosecco very buzzy place with lots of locals (always a good sign) Would highly recommend spending a few hours watching the world go by and enjoying the snacks and drinks

Few and far between are the caffè’s in Italy that serve up l’aperitivo as it was meant to be anymore…I don’t know if the change was due to covid but that excuse doesn’t work anymore Caffè Portofino hit the mark!!! The snacks are not the most awesome I’ve ever had but they are more than sufficient! I was in search of a place that serves and celebrates a proper l’aperitivo near the hotel I frequently stay at and I finally found it just a short distance away. Unless I am just going out for a drink, if I am ever served peanuts and potato chips again, I am getting up and walking away. I don’t think tourists, especially Americans realize how unacceptable and insulting that is..and I don’t feel many restaurants/hotels realize how exciting it is for Americans to visit the beautiful country of Italy. For some, it’s a once in a lifetime trip and it’s sad that restaurants and hotels will skimp on being part of an experience that may have taken years for a family to save for and look forward to..,

Good Gelato! But agreed on the ordering when you’re seated at their tables on the street. Our waitress also didn’t understand my partner’s wine order (wanted a glass of white but he got red instead) but overall, it was delicious gelato and complimentary snacks (we enjoyed the nuts, skipped the platter of fish on bread). I would get a gelato to go next time if I didn’t desperately need a sit down before heading back to our hotel

Il caffè è fantastico. e non solo. lasagne verdi con ricotta e deliziosi spinaci. per non parlare del gelato .good!
