The food is a combination of creatively found flavors. We had the menu and it was so amazing that men in our group started crying and I asked to marry the chef. It’s really hard to describe how good the food is, let’s say after we were finished I asked for a cigarette not even a smoker. and wanted to get it started again. We selected the tasting... read more We had really high hopes for Perpetual so chose to do the tasting menu on our last night in Rome. Sadly we were left very disappointed. We selected the tasting menu with paired wines and we were surprised when our first course arrived almost immediately (no canapés or treats from the chef as we have had at every other tasting menu we have ever done, and we've done a lot). We were then disappointed when the table next to us received a platter of welcome canapés. We asked why we never got and were told it was because we never ordered a pre dinner cocktail... Apparently opting for the more pricey option of tasting menu plus matching wines didn't merit the canapés...?! Seems bizarre. After we raised this, the waitress brought us some canapés, but by this point we had already had the first three or four courses of the tasting menu. All the dishes looked beautiful but we didn't find any to be overly exciting. Perpetual has some great reviews so perhaps we caught it on a bad night, but we were left very disappointed. For the same price, we would recommend trying the likes of Zia which was far more enjoyable.

Nestled on a side street in an unassuming building, this understated and beautifully modern restaurant delivers a fresh and appreciated take on local food with flair. The tasting menu was an adventure from simple fare to complex flavors brought together expertly. So many special tastes from the perfectly cooked and presented simplicity of pasta with black truffle to the complex bite presented as a tomato but instead comprised of sweet flavors. The price is unbelievably reasonable for the expert quality of the meal. We have had other meals equal to this at 2-3 times the price. The wine pairings were spot on. But the highlight was the professional attentive wait staff who made us feel so welcome and elevated our enjoyment of the meal with their attentive service without being cloying. Every dish presented with loving detail and showcasing the chefs' work with their explanations. Highly, highly recommended. Cannot say enough good things.

We opted for the tasting menu €85 pp) and the accompanying wine pairings €60 pp) which we would highly recommend. The staff were extremely friendly and made you feel at ease and fully explained each dish and the idea thinking behind it. You can tell there is passion behind every dish. The food was sophisticated and extremely tasty, the staff even brought out a couple of extra courses for us to try. The presentation of the food was impressive and matched by its taste and use of flavours. We sat upstairs and the setting, ambience and atmosphere made for a very special evening.
