a beautiful discovery in the center of Rome, and they tell me to be one of the oldest trattorias in the city. roma always reserves small and big surprises! We arrive at the restaurant: impeccable service, salad of very fresh ovoli (practically scrocchiarelli,) cacio and pepper that radiates perfection and a great artichoke to the jacket. very good also the wine card. Now that I found out, I won't leave him! View all feedback.

Gimmick of oldest restaurant in Rome attracts customers but the food is terrible. Carcioffi ala judia was horrible, the fiore di zucca tasteless, the pasta was under cooked, the house wine undrinkable View all feedback.
True and tasty Italian food. Not packed with tourists, not pretencious. He had a very nice and fresh torteloni with ricotta, burra and salvia (really fresh) and an amazing gnocchi with tomato. Only the restaurant rooms seem a lit bottle outdated and need some light and materials renovation. That's why I don't give an 5 star. But to be honest, the food and service makes the most important part in this experience, and it was great.
Great experience, and Angelo was the perfect waiter. Great food and fabulous service. Ready to chat and joke. It's a pity that this is our last day in Rome, otherwise we'd be back.
Interesting to read the reviews since they are all over the place. We had a great dinner. Came in before they closed for lunch and made a reservation for 7:30, which is when they open. Showed up at 7:25 and they led us to our reserved table for 2. I wore khaki pants and my wife wore a summer dress. At the same time a couple we met while waiting for the restaurant to open, that has no reservations and wearing shorts came in after us. Checked in with them as we were leaving and they enjoyed their dinner experience as much as we did. For appetizer we started with the calamari, which I enjoyed. Wish they had a marinara sauce to dip them in the way they do in a lot of US Italian resistant. However, the calamari stood out on its own fried just right with just the right amount of tasty breading. I had the rigatoni carbonara, which was delish. The bacon was cooked just right. My wife had the rigatoni with ox tail. She decided it all. We shared a bottle of red Italian wine that our waiter recommended. Good choice. Robust flavor and very drinkable. Finished off with one teramasu that we shared. Enjoyed. Although it was a little too coffeeny for me. Our waiter was great with a good sense of humor and intermingled Italian and English. We did not run into some of the issues other reviewers may have had. And here’s my final assessment (this who follow me on Yelp) know what coming. Would I come here again? Definitely yes. Would I recommend this restaurant to my family and friends? Definitely yes.
Dined there twice in May. Food was decent and service was friendly and fine. The first time we went, we showed up at lunchtime to make a dinner reservation for that evening. We were brusquely told that it would not be possible, come back after 9pm. Our hotel called the restaurant, and we were immediately given a reservation for our requested time. Dinner was good. The next time, we showed up without a reservation but were seated immediately. At the same time, a South-Asian-looking couple were seated at an adjacent table. We are White. We were waited on immediately, they were not. They finally called someone over, but were given (in my opinion) extremely rude service, essentially the Bum 's Rush. Their pasta portions were half size, just flopped on the plates. It was painful to watch and embarrassing. I would never go back there.
