After having been looked with no success for an open restaurant at 2.30pm in that area, we suddenly remembered that we wanted to try Giaro’ several times in the past but without being able to get a table for different reasons. Around 2.30 pm we entered the restaurant and the lady was not only gente and friendly but absolutely delighted to give us a table and she told us just to sit down and enjoy, no hurry. Once more, thank you! Then the gastronomic trip started, with an incredible mix of tastes, flavors and delicacies that brings you directly in front of the sea, you can even hear the waves…..moscardini alla Luciana, with an incredible tomato sauce, mullets a l’orange, aubergines croquettes to die for. And then the main course….spaghetti mit clams, rice with violet shrimps and seaweed, tagliolini with sea anemones, mezze maniche with octopus sauce, something that you would never forget. Closing the dinner with tirami su, mascarpone and strawberries, lemon sorbet and fruit passion sorbet was the perfect final touch.

Roseann... read more This is so worth a trip outside Rome’s city walls (15 min taxi). The husband a wife team could not have been more hospitable from the moment we arrived. Roseanna kindly translated the whole menu to English, advised on wine choice (not the most expensive option) and explained how she made the breads, dealt with customers whilst her husband prepared the dishes. Given the location and modest decor we could not have been more surprised by the food which was exceptional and it was clear the owners put their heart and souls into preparing dishes their customers would love. Several of the customers were clearly locals and regular visitors to this authentic fish restaurant. All our courses were beautifully presented and the tiramisu was constructed at our table. They even provided a complimentary vegetable dish with our salt crusted sea bass, after dinner liquor and home made amaretto biscuits.
