I went for lunch at Chinappi Roma with some collegues. The menu seems good but the owner said he will arrange something since it was our first time. We spent 470 euro in 4 persons (cost of the wine already deducted for lunch having 5 antipasti (apetiser and 1 pasta. We came here for Christmas Eve, after seeing a review. This was a complete tourist trap. The food terrible. The manager or the lead server was very annoying. He was constantly starring at us as we dined, when he brought the wrong thing over he would leave it and insist we try it anyway when we were very clear we did not want it. We asked for a cocktail of which they had all the ingredients, considering there were the ingredients at their bar and on their menu (A vodka martini), they had no idea what it was, which could be a moment of miscommunication but when we expressed it wasn’t correct, he insisted we try it anyway. Beside this, their tasting menu was appalling- with a soggy bruschetta lacking flavour and quality of ingredients. Worst ravioli. Cold stuffed calamari wasn’t too bad in flavour but was accompanied with a burnt green mystery veg resembling spinach. Overall it felt like we were on kitchen nightmares, even looked around to see if there were camera crew. Contemplated writing this review because some of the supporting staff were friendly and in good spirits, but this is just not a good restaurant.
The most phenomenal meal I had in Rome. Khan was a fabulous server. We did not order, he simply brought us his favorite menu items and everything was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend.
Long waited review.. over a month since I've been to this restaurant and I still cannot forget how amazing this restaurant was. this is how good this place is. the food were just fabulous and fresh. it will be a disservice to myself if I don't leave a comment here. The chief was extremely nice and was a delight having just a few chat with him. here are just a few dishes, eg. drill octopus, creme brulee, red prawns and etc.. the waiter also recommended this local white, that was fruit yet dry which pair perfectly with the seafood. Too bad my luggage was getting full or else I will order a few back home. Has to be my best meal in Italy by far!!
Great dinner. fresh fish prepared and served with extreme care and precision. impeccable service. We'll be back a lot!
The chef is not a cook but an artist who works magnificent dishes with simplicity! Congratulations.
