Sweet and Savoury pancakes, steaks, salads and plenty of other choices. Location overlooking the Nantes Brest canal is delightful and access from the Rohan town square is easier than up the steps from the canal tow path. Service is very good and the restaurant seems very popular with locals. If your French is not too good they do have English menus. Can get busy so do book and ask if they can give you a window table. What Alex Bigot doesn't like about La Gavotte:
Having cycled our 50 miles to Rohan and needing supper this was the only option on a Sunday night. The restaurant was busy and the option was either crepe or gallette. My cheese and ham choice was perfectly fine but we'd had better in other...restaurants on our way up the coastline. The staff were friendly and made us welcome but I wouldn't rush back. We came here for our evening meal. The setting is beautiful next to the gorgeous canal. We ate inside, however people were sitting outdoors too. The meal was lovely, service very good and they also had a menu translated into English. The rose cidre was...to die for and it is served in little traditional stoneware mugs. Ah ! it was just so French. Galettes are savoury buckwheat pancakes- a lovely main course and they were excellent. You need to remember that things around this part of France close a bit early so you do need to be in the restaurant for about 9pm to be on the safe side. We loved it here- it was well recommended to us.
Have lived in neighbouring St Maudan as a Brit ex-pat for three years and only recently managed to visit La Gavotte. Lovely, typically french interior on the bank of the Canal Nantes to Brest. Several lovely window views of the water and its wildlife.Excellent choice of savoury and sweet crepes and my husband said the steak he had was the best he'd had since we came to live here! The staff are so friendly and helpful and the little winding garden pathetic to the front door is delightful. Will definitely be bringing our family here when they visit this May and July.
