The food is exciting, obsessively seasonal and local rather than the usual lip-service to these values. The menu is enticing and the dishes when they arrive contain all sorts of pleasant surprises....The starters were exceptional, imaginative with international influences but with a French core and savoir-faire. The wine selection is excellently chosen and showcases wines and wine regions non-French visitors will find novel and intriguing. The service was exemplary, the young owners gave every table their attention and advice and the food, wine, coffee and digestif all arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Finally the space is beautifully redecorated (from the former twee caf in bold colours with some elegant retro features. I genuinely cannot recommend La Maison highly enough, I would eat there each week if I lived in Rodez and for visitors' the owners speak fluent English and Spanish as well as French so it is a great opportunity to enjoy fine food and learn about it, the town and the area.
