But it started off... read more I was really looking forward to this lunch before our visit to the gallery (which was excellent). The decor and architecture are impressive. But it started off badly when I ordered deux verres de vins rose (while pointing to wines by the glass on the menu) and was brought two beers. Simple mistake, easily rectified. But the waiter ARGUED with me, insisting that I had indeed ordered the beers! He glared at me from a distance for the rest of the meal. Paris has a reputation for rude waiters. But I have never encountered one in dozens of meals there over the years. Or any where else in France for that matter. The food was just OK depending on your selection. All of it was under-seasoned. The beef was tough and flavourless. It needed a jus with some wine, garlic, and herbs. And either more or less cooking (depending on the cut). My pear tart for desert tasted like it had sat on the shelf of a bakery for too long. All in all, disappointing! But don 't let this deter you from the excellent Soulages gallery, itself worth the visit to Rodez.

We a... read more We went before visiting the Soulages museum. We were attracted by the architecture and the name of the Chef, Bras, who has a famous restaurant in Laguiole. We arrived around 14.30, the restaurant was closed and we could only have their toasted sandwiches. The food was nice, fresh and tasty but overpriced, 9/10 euros for a toasted sandwich... Service was non-existent, our food arrived before the water as nobody actually bothered giving us a bottle of tap water and glasses, we had to remind them. after that, we made eye contact on several occasions with the waitresses but none of them came to inquire on what we wanted. As a consequence, we abandoned any idea to have dessert and coffee and went straight to the bar to pay...
