He reacted as if I was a criminal or a person who had not paid for my... read more Rather disappointed today with Mr. Tolbert. I simply asked for a refill on my shaved ice. He reacted as if I was a criminal or a person who had not paid for my food or drink. I felt so embarrassed with family and friends standing there. I would have paid extra for the refill. I wasn’t offered the opportunity. I truly hate that this was the first time my family from Maryland had ever eaten a Smithfield Chicken and Bbq one of my favorite places to eat. Mr. Tolbert was so quickly to be defensive and just plain rude. His reaction and lack of customer service threw the entire meal off. So we will not be returning to this location. I often brag that Smithfield chicken and bbq is one of my favorite places to eat. I felt so embarrassed and disappointed. I hope Mr. Tolbert will educate himself on customer service, professionalism and just plain southern courtesy. ?

How I wish we had a Smith... read more We stopped at Smithfield's for the first time tonight. We're just in Rocky Mount for an overnight pit-stop between FL and home, in NJ. How I wish we had a Smithfield's up north! The fried chicken (I got the dark combo, my favorite) was crispy and delicious, the cole slaw was just perfect--not too vinegary or too mayonnaisy, and the potato salad might have been even better than my Mom's (shhh--don't tell her I said that)! My husband got the tenders value meal and loved every bite. He also ate all of my hush puppies! I think I could be in trouble--this is craveable fried chicken, and you can only get it in NC! I guess I'll have to settle with stopping whenever we are passing through.

The fried shrimp were better than some seafood restaurants and the sweet tea was some of the best I've tasted! I'll be stopping in again for more of that Red BBQ sauce.

The food was delicious, the servic... read more This was my first time visiting Smithfield's Chicken 'n Bar-B-Q, so I decided to try both the fried chicken and the barbecue. The food was delicious, the service was welcoming, and I will definitely be returning the next time I am in Rocky Mount, North Carolina for another round of their amazing hospitality, pleasant ambiance, and absolutely scrumptious meals!

I ordered a rear gate special, plus buy a free Brunswick stew. I live 30 minutes away. When we came home, the Brunswick pot was watered. when I called the manager in service. she says the sick inspector just left. the report said it was a lot of water in it. a few days later I returned, my stew was replaced. smithfield chicken and bbq is the best thing that happens.
