Reservation was easy, very intimate, table was ready with menus/silverware, and Blake (our waiter) was very attentive with a wonderful personality, and good food recommendations (try theshareable ribs and thank me later) FOOD WAS AMAZING! 10/10. Kounter located in the heart of Rock hill,SC is launching a Sunday supper club with Chef Rob. The drinks were phenomenal and each course over exceeded myexpectations. Included in this supper club experience is for each guest to choose a cocktail, a 4 course meal , along with asurprise additional course , and a bottle of wine as well . Talk about a bang for your buck and an experience this is it . WhatI loved most is how interactive it was,Chef Rob came out several times to ask how was everything and if you had anyfavorites. My favorite hands down was the watermelon lasagna, talk about wowing your palate this course nailed it. Far as thedesserts it was hard to choose a favorite everything was absolutely amazing. Be sure before leaving to check out The Jail nobail : How 30 days impacted the civil rights movement exhibit can be found when exiting Kounter .

We started with the Baked Feta: fresh herbs, roasted tomato, Kalamazoo olives with flatbread crackers and house focaccia. Great combination of flavors and while thebread was delicious, their flatbread is amazing! I had the Alderwood Salmon with swirled potato purée, forest mushroom cream,julienne snow peas and crispy shalotts. Fantastic twist on salmon and was just as good the next day when I cooked my leftoversstove top. My husband had the Steak Potato: seared hangar steak, swirled potato purée, crab Brie butter, lemon Chileblistered snow peas. Steak was cooked to perfection and was a great combination of flavors. For dessert we had their take onWhipped Key Lime: gramma cracker crumble, torched vanilla meringue and brûlées lime sugar. If you like key lime pie, you haveto try theirs. It was amazingly good. Not too tart and the torched vanilla meringue was a nice addition to the flavors. Wewill definitely be back, especially when we have out of town guests!

After living in the Rock Hill area for most of my life, my husband, friends, and I have enjoyed Kounter multiple times in the past and when we came back to town to visit with my family and celebrate my birthday, I wanted to make a reservation for lunch. When we walked in, our table was ready and we were seated immediately. The chef and the rest of the staff had taken the time to write a hand written note on a card to wish me a Happy Birthday, which I felt was a very special touch to our visit. The staff was friendly, attentive, and great at communicating. The food... WOW, the food. I got the Black Truffle Grilled Cheese with Smoked Tomato Bisque and the flavors were insane (in an incredibly good way). My husband got the Bussin ' Bussin ' Burger with Crispy Asian Brussels and again, it blew us away with the flavors. I could have eaten an entire pasta sized bowl of those brussels. My parents got the Cubana with the brussels and the Parmesan Creamed Corn also very good. At the end they surprised me with Mom 's Chocolate Pie and they had placed a single lit candle in the center. It was the perfect touch to end the meal and the pie was scrumptious. I have obviously, always enjoyed Kounter or else I wouldn 't have made a reservation to celebrate my birthday with my family there. With that said, after this visit, I felt the need to come to the internet and rave about how truly incredible this little gem of a restaurant is so others will also know. This was the perfect visit to a restaurant for me. It was even more special to see the names of the Friendship Nine carved into the wood lining the walls. What an incredibly special place to celebrate my birthday and the history of the location. Bravo to the entire Kounter team for creating such an incredible place for locals to enjoy an incredible menu, a friendly staff, and a little bit of our history. Thank you! The room was fairly noisy but it was full of happy patrons. We had a great time and enjoyed our server, Isaiah.
