Excellent food, perfect portions, reasonable prices the menu items very secretly! Our waitress was also perfect! I can't wait to get back to the area to go back there! View all feedback.
This has been a favorite place for my husband and me to come to whenever we come to Rochester. The food is always good. A couple negative things unfortunately. Waitress had to get me another cup of coffee because there was food stuck to inside of cup. When I unwrapped my silverware, my knife had food stuck on it. The ladies restroom was not clean at all.
Very nice Diner. Really fast service. The place was full, people were enjoying themselves, lots of laughter in the air plenty of varieties in foods. Delicious baked goods too!!! There was the nicest waitress, also hostess was so kindly.. TV and restrooms very nice.
Is it just me or is almost every place falling apart? We ordered pancakes, bacon, an order of fries and I got a garbage plate. The waitress asked how I wanted my burgers cooked and I said medium. Food came, pancakes were good, got a small cereal bowl of fries and my plate. My plate was horrible, my burgers were well done, the home fries were mushy (idk if they sat in a steam pan since breakfast, it was 4pm, but they were nasty) and the Mac salad was watery and was tasteless. We hadn’t been here in 2 years probably and remembered the food quality being much better in the past. But the thing I guess I’m struggling with is how expensive everything is. $5 for a bowl of fries, $8 for pancakes and my mush plate was $14. $40 including a $5 tip, the server did a nice job and was pleasant, seemed like too much for what we got, but I may just be stuck in the 90s. As well, I like for people to be comfortable at work but I’m not going to sit down at a restaurant to listen to Juice World rap blaring from the kitchen. At one point either a cook or dishwasher came out to get a drink and opened the lid to the ice dispenser and stuck his bare hand down inside to check how much ice was left, again not something I want to see, but I guess now we are over Covid nbd.
Great place to stop in with the fam. my toddler gobbles their pancakes and the staff is so kind
Jay's is a Rochester institution that has been around for 53 years. I've personally been coming here since my college all-nighter days of yore. I moved out of the area, but on a recent trip back, we felt the urge to stop in. Like an old friend, Jay's was consistent and dependable. They've got a solid menu with diner staples and always offer daily specials and seasonal items. For me, it's the all-day breakfast. Whether it's Sunday morning breakfast, late night munchies, or just need a place where everyone can find what they want, Jay's is the place. It remains my go-to recommendation for a quality diner in Rochester.
