Francisco's Cuban Cafe - Rochester

I really enjoyed the experience of dining at this restaurant. The staff was friendly and it had a cozy, family-run atmosphere where you could tell they genuinely cared. The prices were fair and the dishes on the menu reminded me of homemade meals cooked with love by a grandmother. I visited multiple times during my stay in town and each time was a pleasant experience.

Extremely disappointing experience overall. Upon arrival, we were informed that several menu items were unavailable, including ropa vieja, empanadas, passion fruit shakes, and mango. Half of the items we requested were not available. The food itself was underwhelming, with my wife's fries being cold to the touch and my saffron rice being room temperature and stale. We settled on a cuban sandwich, which was okay but also lukewarm. The shakes took a long time to arrive, and I had to go ask for them. To make matters worse, the customers seated after us were served mango shakes, despite being told they were out of mango. The ratings for this restaurant are difficult to understand based on my experience. While I enjoy Cuban and Caribbean cuisine, I do not plan on returning to this establishment.

I am a huge fan of Francisco's! I drive an hour from La Crosse to Rochester just to eat there because it is definitely worth it. The oxtails are absolutely delicious and I order them every time. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are fantastic. They always make me feel welcome with their friendly smiles, which always brings a smile to my face. I highly recommend Francisco's to anyone who enjoys Jamaican or Cuban cuisine!
