Charley Brown's - Rochester

It may be small and dimly lit, but like a fine wine, it has its charm. Great friends always gather here for wonderful meals! It's definitely one of my favorites!

My wife and I traveled from Ithaca to Rochester to surprise our daughter for her birthday back in February. Since we were unfamiliar with the local restaurant scene, we chose a place based on Google reviews and photos from Maps. We were absolutely pleased with our decision. We secured the perfect table to surprise our daughter and her partner, and the food was outstanding. The service matched the quality of the food—our waitress was always there when we needed her but knew when to give us space. I’m still amazed at how she managed that! The surprise and dinner were a total success. I highly recommend Charley Brown's and want to extend my gratitude to the servers, management, staff, and owners.

Expansive and delicious looking menu. I got the chicken french which came with a split pea soup, both of which were fabulous. Don't let the outside fool you, it's delicious perfect Italian food for a great valued price! Highly recommend going; will be going back hopefully semi regularly.

Without a reservation, we were directed to the bar, which we enjoy. We were out of the waitresses path, so it was comfortable. Steve made our night. Besides not being the arrogant type of bartender, but the opposite, he was nice and engaging. My martini was perfect. His description to a couple of things on the menu was clear and decisive. The split pea soup was delicious, and I noticed it was not overly salty, thanks! Salt, pepper and chili flakes were available if needed, though.I ordered the gnocchi, the bowl was simply hot, the way pasta should be always served. It was delicious, and noticed again that the pasta sauce was not overly salty and or spicy, so standard in any restaurant in this area. Thanks, again! I asked for a normal size table spoon that took no time to come. My husband ordered some burger that was cooked the way he wanted it.

We went there for our 16th anniversary dinner and it was amazing. The food, drinks, staff, management and ambiance was just perfect. Steve the bartender was super friendly and great.
