Dropped into this place during one of the brief intervals of 2020 when COVID-19 Lockdown was not in force. It was as reliable as I and many others have previously commented on TripAdvisor. Good Food and Service at Reasonable Prices. Since then the News has been that the Wheafsheaf Centre will not be reopening when things return to something approaching 'normal '. It was also reported that Russells will be reappearing... View all feedback.
What albefuiraman doesn't like about Russell's:
having returned to russell's after being away for a number of years i must admit i was not impressed the coffee was like water tasteless and the food was hit and miss some hot some cold but this could just of been an off day and will try again in the next few weeks View all feedback.
The building and design team did a great job at this place, but the service providers need some improvement. Being a direct debit card user, I had a problem with the staff and felt like I was being pressured to use their card payment device as I didn't have cash on me. Even if I did have cash, they didn't seem willing to accept larger bills. The best course of action is to avoid this place until there is a new manager in charge. Time is ticking.
I visited Russell's cafe on Wednesday, January 26th. The ambience was lovely and the staff was nice, however, I was disappointed in the food. It was not up to the standards of the former cafe in the Wheatsheaf Arcade. The cheese and onion quiche was bland and tasteless, and the chips tasted like cardboard. It's a shame because the quality needs to improve for us to consider returning.
The quality of the food at this restaurant has decreased recently, and I am disappointed with the overall experience. The prices have gone up, which is understandable, but the food is not worth the cost. Additionally, I was shocked to find out that they charge extra for ketchup sachets. This Rochdale cafe is quite expensive, and for these reasons, I won't be returning anytime soon.
Russles has now relocated to Yorkshire St , due to the Wheatsheaf Centre closing. We went for breakfast this morning. The ambience is peaceful and chilled out. We were served by a petite girl with glasses who was very helpful to everyone and full of life. Always enjoy going here.
Work in an office on the same street as the cafe as we wanted to buy lunches and buy local rang the cafe to order a number of lunches for take out to be told too busy to take our order if we want food we would have to walk down to the cafe.!
