Caballos de Luz is an incredible and unique place delicious homemade international vegetarian food, scenic horse riding on happy well cared for horses, and charming rustic accommodation are all offered here. The place is stunning and there is a beautiful river on the property for swimming in the summer. You can stay in one of the lovely guest cabins or just visit for lunch and/or a ride, but in both cases you'll need to reserve in advance. Vegan, gluten free and other dietary requirements can be catered for with advance notice. The horses live a very natural lifestyle and are trained without violence, so you can rest assured that you're not participating in anything unethical. In short go here! It's a wonderful experience and well worth the price.

They have such a great food at this place that it made it really hard to leave but at least Lucie shared many recipes with us. If you are lucky enough you can try their Fenol-pesto Gnocchi or the famous Eggplant-Milanese.

Caballos de Luz was really the highlight of my trip to Uruguay. Tasty fresh food, warm service and one of the most beautiful, tranquil locations I've ever been. The horses are most likely the happiest in Uruguay. Just be sure to book in advance. You won't regret it!
