We were the only ones in the Restaurant so we had private dining experience! Food was a little pricey for what we got but the food was lovely and light - not heavy like you can sometimes have wiht Chinese. Food came out quickly and our waitress was attentive but not crowding us either (which could have been the case seeing we were all she had!). View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Robe Chinese Restaurant:
The food was of a reasonable standard, although the peas seemed stale and the green curry tasted somewhat like detergent. The servings were generous for their price, although this did not make up for the lack of atmosphere in the dining area. We visited here again a couple of weeks ago, and found that Vic Street Pizzeria are now Pizza Project and under new management! The new owner is a chef who

Well I really am unable to say anything overly positive about this dinning experience. It was our Wedding Anniversary, and we both love Chinese food but, this was an experience we have never encountered before. Being visitors to Robe, we had a good look around for our dinning options, and both agreed that Chinese was to the choice for the night, as it was also Valentines Day, we made a booking. Arriving at the booked time, we waited along with other patrons to be seated, the others were directed to their table, and the staff member came back over, clearly flustered that two lots of people arrived around the same time, she grabbed two menus and then turned to us to inquire what we were waiting for, we let her know we also had a booking, she told us our table number and then proceeded to take the menus to the others. We sat down at a table set for five, and then we were just left there. What a great start!, The lovely young couple who were at the table beside us gave us a menu after we had been sitting for about 10 minutes. After about another five minutes, appeared what we presume, was the chef, from the kitchen, to take our food order. I politely asked could we please have a drink first, and perhaps another menu, to make our choice. After a short wait, my husband noticed a more appropriate table, and we asked yet another staff member, who appeared if we could move to that table, which we did, but it had to be cleared first, we moved straight away. At that point the lady who greeted us and directed us to our table in the beginning appeared with our drinks and took them to the first table, and as we had moved, she took them back to the bar, what a shamoozel, I then had to advise her where we were now seated. After waiting a short while the chef appeared again and took our order. We ordered entrees to share, a main course each and a fried rice to share. After awhile, and while my husband had gone to the bathroom, the first staff member appeared with my main course, which I refused to take at that point, as we had not even had our entree. So she disappeared back to the kitchen with it. When my husband came back, I had to explain to him what had taken place, at that point he wanted to leave. I then went to the bathroom myself, and when I came back the entree was waiting, hooray, it was edible, after clearing away our entree plates, out came our main dishes, my husband had ordered salt and pepper squid, which he barely touched, as it was inedible as it was extremely salty. Our fried rice was very basic and really gluggy. My main was ok. We were so disappointed, and when we went to pay there was a delay as the staff member who greated us was taking payment from other patrons, who were paying separately, this person was clearly struggling with running this business and it does not make for a pleasant dinning experience at all. At the time of our payment we advised her of our displeasure with our meal, and her only comment was that she couldn't get anyone else to work for the night. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to anyone, there has to be any other option in town.

It seemed very quiet as we walked in and the waitress did not seem to realise that we were there. After eventually receiving a table, we were greeted with a tacky plastic table cloth that stuck to your arms and complete silence throughout the restaurant which made for awkward conversations. I understand that this is primarily a take away restaurant, although I feel that they should put more effort into the dining area to satisfy customers who want to eat in.
