This is my new favorite sushi place. The owner and the staff are so very human and friendly. Our first time was 45 minutes before closing and they served us as if they were opened for several hours. We didn't feel hurried and our food didn't taste. Prices for what you get are very fair. We will definitely come back. View all feedback.
What Tiffany C doesn't like about Sushi R91:
Rice was not bad and spicy tuna was decent. I wouldn't necessarily just get the sashimi combo only as the rice really helps. The cuts are very cold for a reason I think. Large slices of sashimi, but the tuna wasn't very flavorful. Solid salmon however as well as other cuts. Do not get the any kama as they deep fry the hell out of it. OK spot and clearly a drinking one for college students. View all feedback.
Still such a joy to eat here. Love seeing the manager interact with the customers. He's a very polite and friendly person. The workers really do give great customer service and try their best to solve issues with the customers. Sushi is still amazing and so tastey. Props to the sushi chefs making it happen.Food: 5/5
I cannot express my anger enough about Sushi R91 in Riverside, CA. The food was beyond mediocre, and the service was absolutely horrible. If I could give them zero stars, I would do it in a heartbeat.First of all, let's talk about the food. I ordered through DoorDash, and it was a huge mistake. The sushi rolls were tasteless and bland. The fish was not fresh at all, and it felt like I was chewing on rubber. The rice was dry and seemed like it had been sitting out for hours. I have had better sushi from a cheap grocery store. It was a complete waste of my money. But the worst part was the service, or rather, the complete lack of it. They messed up my order not once, but twice! And there was absolutely no accountability for their mistakes. When I called to complain, the person on the other end was rude and unapologetic. They didn't even offer a solution or a refund. It was as if they didn't care about their customers at all.I strongly advise against ordering from Sushi R91, especially if you're using DoorDash. Their food is mediocre, and their service is abysmal. Save your money and go somewhere else where they actually value their customers. Trust me, you'll thank me later.
Honestly, I am very surprised at the overall rating for this place. This place was trash. I thought maybe it was just my order, but everyone in our party was dissatisfied with their food. We had ordered some ramen and a couple of sushi rolls, but the quality was bad. The ramen tasted old and lacked flavor-almost like it was watered down. I was hesitant about the color of the tuna in my roll, but ate it anyway. After a few bites, I couldn 't continue. The taste was off. We ended up ordering a baked roll after, since the fresh rolls were not really fresh . Our baked scallops roll was literally a California foll with a mountain of imitation crab and 3 pieces of scallops hidden under a squirt of mayo. When they brought the roll out, I thought it was the wrong order since there was nothing baked about it. The waitress took it back, but brought it back out a minute later and said it was the right one. For $16.95 dollars, I wasn 't expecting a California roll. Overall, would not return to this place. Food was not good, service was terrible, and the chefs do not seem to have motivation to prepare a decent dish.
The silliest thing about this review is they absolutely CRUSHED the Tamago Nigiri. You can go to a place and it be too sweet or too bland or just straight up awful texture and it really just sang in concert with the soy sauce/wasabi/chili paste mix I made. If I'm this wild about the Tamago, imagine how you're gonna feel about the Yellowtail Belly or everything else on it's wonderful menu.I ordered via Doordash and the order came quick, clearly marked and most importantly fresh. Didn't have to beg for sauces or even ask, they hooked me and my uncle up handsomely. I come from the Bay Area and I miss my great sushi spots, I'm glad I moved down here and found one that would put them to shame easily.
I know it's a sushi place, but they do korean fried chicken now. You have to try a chicken wing beer combo the wings are all deliciousFood: 5/5
