Straightforward delicious food.. Everything beautifully cooked, yummy to eat. Carefully thought out balance menu, meaning you leave full but not stuffed ! Lovely smiley service.. We've been twice for lunch in the last six weeks.. It is a joy to go somewhere that is always good.. and terrific value. View all feedback.
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary. I had Salmon and tuna as an entree, the main course was ravioli with truffles and cheese cake for dessert. It was a great meal. Although my wife was less satisfied with her main course meal which was veal. The restaurant itself has a very charming ambience especially in that we ate outside on the terrace.
Based on the great reviews, we drove 1.5 hours to try this restaurant for our anniversary dinner. The setting is quite nice, very clean, with a lovely terrace overlooking a stream and a field. However, anti-mosquito lamps/lights would be a welcome feature. My husband was very pleased with his choices (smoked salmon tuna, ravioli with truffles, and mojito cheesecake). Mine, on the other hand, were surprisingly bland (beef carpaccio, veal roast, and Frappuccino). While the meat was clearly top quality, it lacked flavor as did the accompanying mashed potatoes, and did not meet expectations for this type of establishment. The dessert was totally underwhelming. As for the staff, our waitress was briskly efficient, the chef unsmiling and gruff. All in all, we have mixed feelings about our experience and are unlikely to make the 3-hour round trip again.
We had an amazing meal last night against all the odds. A massive storm hit SW France at about 6.30 pm. There were trees down everywhere got to the restaurant very late and the power had gone out. They lit loads of candles and managed to cook for a full restaurant full of people . We had a super meal. The chef wearing a head torch. Well done.
We never miss an opportunity to eat at le pigeonneau. This time on the terrace which was delightful,so cool on a very hot evening. The tasting platter as a starter was lovely especially the marinated tuna. One of us had fois gras and said that it was beautiful. We ate succulent guinea fowl as a main course accompanied by a tasty tomato salad and a choice of potatoes. I had no space for a pudding but both the lemon mousse with lemon sorbet and the chocolate fondant with pistachio were highly praised. Bob and Ruby did it again!
We went there for a group dinner. all the chosen dishes made unanimous. the cusine is excellent, the dishes are well presented and refined. The owner is of great kindness. I highly recommend!
