I discovered Hot Tamales during the pandemic, after life in the area for 6 years!!! I'm so upset that I didn't find her earlier. The tamal cakes (educated) are from this world. Some times I only go for the chips and salsa. The Kalabacitassuppet is my food. The service is always in mind and I never had a bad meal. Don't even let me start her BREAKFAST. View all feedback.
What Ann Stepp doesn't like about Hot Tamales New Mexican Food:
The food was good, but not the best Mexican food I've ever had. Overall, it was an average experience. The salsa was too spicy and the chips were okay. The service was decent. I dined in for dinner and the price per person ranged from $10 to $20. I would give the food, service, and atmosphere a rating of 3 out of 5. View all feedback.

My first time to visit and let me tell you for the prices their portions are not stingy compared to other restaurants that I was. I recommend her green Chile over red Chile and her shredded beef and chicken over everything else. But this is my preference, a whole tasty place with good customer service.
It was very good. I had a taco, Relleno and Enchilada with rice and beans. My dinner companions had the chicken enchilada cuprols they really enjoyed. Chili was only hot enough and although the place was full, we had a great service. Great food and decent prices, you cannot miss this place.
From the menu, to the food, to the service and the ambiance this needs to be on your list of restaurants to visit for traditional New Mexican food. No matter if you're local or if you're visiting you'll not only love the food but the chill atmosphere.
Ate here twice while visiting town: once for dinner and once for breakfast. For dinner we had beef fajitas, and stuffed sopapillas. Both meals were great, although we felt like the beef in the fajitas was a little dry and the tortillas seemed store bought where I would have preferred homemade. I think the stuffed sopapillas were an inspired dish and I chose to have them with beef and chicken as well as both sauces to really try out all the options. Next time I?d probably ask to add lettuce and tomatoes and maybe sour cream. For breakfast I had chicken enchiladas and eggs and added a side of pinto beans. Again, I split the sauces. This was my favorite meal of them all as I?m a big breakfast fan. All the meals came with sopapillas which was wonderful as I like those with honey as a desert but I used half of one to sop up the eggs and chili at breakfast. Service was ok for both meals but it?s clear they are short on staffing as most places are these days. It?s just the way it is in the restaurant industry and the team does their best. Will definitely be back next time we?re in town.
