Definitely a place to avoid.

Love the staff who are helpful and patient with all the non-Portuguese speaking tourists. This would be our regular pub if we lived here.

The first time, I had some friends in town from the US and I really wanted them to see Santa Tereza. We made the journey up to Santa Tereza on a Wednesday afternoon with a plan: hit 3 bars, Santa Tereza hotel and then go to Lapa. Simplismente was the last of the 3 bars and easily our favorite. So good that we skipped Santa Tereza Hotel and opted to stay here longer. The drinks are such a fair price! A caipirinha for R$12? That is like 4 bucks! The service is great and people are friendly--this place draws a good crowd. It has a rustic, hipstery feel to it. We really enjoyed ourselves. The only thing they could work on, is their 'healthy menu '. They have pizza that looks amazing but really the only thing on the menu for me was an omelette and that isn 't exactly what I want to be eating at night. Good thing I was just there for some drinks ;
