Contribute FeedbackThis is a real rustic place with a few worn terrace tables and chairs. the location is spectacular directly around the old oyster beds. they also offer a few other shellfish, besides oysters. they know they don't take cb or zit cards. cash payment or I suspect that only a French review is accepted.
We have here for eating with seafood after a meeting with our friends in a nearby city. if they love seafood, this is a wonderful place, but if they don't enjoy it, then this place is not for them because it is not much else. I am not a seafood lover, and the only thing I really enjoyed was the acras and, after I saw them in a French supermarket freezer, I am not convinced that they were fait maison! the acras that I had were okay, but not much more than that and they delivered very mingy pots of the diving sauce! my man and our friend loved their tellers of seafood oysters, molkens, vernis, etc. I should also add that the loo was 't particularly well located that they had to go past the dishwasher to reach it and I had to close the dishwasher
We had twice visited the nearby Chez Jacky restaurant and found it much as your previous reviewer. The quay at Belon however is so lovely that we returned there for the views and were delighted to find that Anne de Belon had opened a small...open air restaurant at least at lunchtime. We are not oyster buffs but we had a plate of moules farcies, with a couple of oysters included and a generous dish of bulots, a glass each of muscadet, bread and coffee, change from 20 euros and a view to die for. It was a lovely day but what a treat.
I first got acquainted with Anne De Belon by watching Anthony Bourdain 's no reservation show on Brittany, being originally from Brittany and an oyster connoisseur I made a mental note for my next trip. Riec Sur Belon is not on most tourist 's map when...visiting Brittany unlike her 2 neighbors; Pont Aven and Concarneau but if you 're close or willing make a special trip to taste what is often referred as the best oyster in the world you won 't be disappointed. From the center of Riec Sur Belon you 'll drive about 3 miles on a small country road that will take you to the Port harbor) Belon if you 're not sure follow the sign chez Jacky a well known seafood restaurant, overpriced if you asked me, that is 100 ft from Anne ' oyster). Don 't drive all the way down, park on the only parking lot above the harbor and walk down, take a right at Jacky 's and walk another 100ft a dead end) to find Anne. Anne, a 3rd generation ostricultor was on the docks on this quiet, over cast, weekday when we walked in. Anne welcomed us with a warm smile and after sharing some educational information and fun facts about oysters me and my brother were ready to eat! We ordered 12 flat#3 and 12 Creuse #3 the number indicates the size). It was served with some fresh bread and butter, lemon and vinegar pearls and if your heart desire a cold glass of muscadet. A delight!!! So much flavor delivered, so good that we ordered another 2 dozens to go. When you visit Anne don 't expect anything fancy, she still use all the traditional ways of cultivating oysters and most of the year there 's only 2 people working, 5 for the summer months. The seenery is unbelievable seating on the dock looking down in the baie the whole experience was amazing. Prices are very good expect to pay from $7 to $9 per dozen depending on the size. If you like a plate of mixed seafood with langoustines, bigorneaux, crab, lobster and oysters its also available for less than 20 euros per person.
