Wouldn’t let me use the bathroom despite my medical condition. Appalling attitude from the stuck up woman behind the counter
I have visited this cafe many times now as there is not much else around Strawberry Hill but every time hoping that it might be a slightly better experience... it never is. The attitude and rudeness you get on arrival is absolutely appalling, the owner...makes you feel like you are a massive inconvenience for making her do you a coffee! How dare you pull her away from her paper! The menu is bland and boring, often get stale bread, no salad, no baguettes,Jacket potato’s or anything exciting, basically if you’re looking for some ham or premixed tub of tuna mayonnaise into some hard stale bread this is your place to go! I regularly walk past and often see the lady in the same clothes as the previous day, not great hygiene for somebody working with food. No gloves, no hand washing after she touches her hair and face. It is such as shame, as a local resident I would love to spend more time here as it is in a great location, sadly just run by somebody who has clearly lost any passion and enthusiasm she may have once had. Poorly run but could be fantastic with a change of hands! After reading a lot of other negative reviews one would hope she might take some of these comments on board but obviously she thinks it’s all fine there!

My man and I were from a very early funeral back to home that had nothing to eat. in peggy is the train she had run out of rolling to make a bacon sandwich. ok- good....Mine was ok- not especially fresh brot, but edible. my man had a piece of bread that was so stale that it was cranking. the other disc seemed ok- not brilliant! I told him to say something, but he wouldn't. Let's think we felt a bit ridiculous to make a sandwich. at the end he left the half of the upper disc and ate the lower half and the speck. we had already paid when we left, said that brot was rocky. peggy looked at us astonished and said we should have said something. I said I should have told my husband that I should say something, but that I was surprised that she had abandoned it. we're talking about sandwiches, not gourmet dishes. everyone knows when he makes a sandwich, whether it's fresh or not. I would never have served my family alone if I had paid for the people who paid me £3.00. will not go back what a shame is, because it is only on the way from where we live. peggy has to open her game. will not be recommending!
Popped into Peggy's with my chicken vindaloo that I had just bought in Manchester. Like all typical local station cafes she didn't mind me eating it there and then. She stopped serving all other customers to attend to me....yes me....me me me ....because I ....yes...I had a train to catch! Look at me the person catching the train! She then had a bath, laundered all her clothing and hosed the cafe down with disinfectant before making me a coffee, which I didn't really want. What I did want though, was to use the bathroom! Yes that's right. the public go int o the cafe so it must be a public toilet. When I say public I mean me....yes me....rememember me? I'm the person catching a train! I didn't have anything and I couldn't pay by credit card, not only that, Peggy muttered something about my Cath Kidston bag which upset me so much that I came on Tripadvisor to be jolly rude about her. Because that's what I ....(the person who catches the train) do. Altogether a lovely experience.
