What User doesn't like about Shanghai Dim Sum:
Went for lunch and there were line ups at the door. But the service was very fast and the flow was not too backed up. Tried the raved about dumplings and they were okay but not spectacular. The wrapping was thin and there was soup inside but taste was nothing memorable. Also tried the green onion pancake which was very filling. The noodle in peanut paste had way too much peanut butter. Heavily promoted soup dumplings at 4 for $0.99 were juicy and hot, not bad but they lacked the complex and satisfying blend of flavors of better dumpling restaurants like Din Tai Fung or 3-6-9. read moreThe Shanghai-style dumplings at this restaurant are hit and miss, with the pork dumplings being a standout and the seafood ones falling short. The hot and sour soup receives high marks. Prices are reasonable, with some specials priced attractively. Service can be fast but may lack in friendliness. The restaurant in Richmond Hill is larger and accepts Visa, but doesn't offer the same authentic feel as the smaller Scarborough location. Overall, the food is good enough for a satisfying meal, but be prepared for a no-frills dining experience and possibly subpar service.
