Really good fresh sushi and sashimi! Service was a little questionable. First we had to wait to see a menu...the table next to us were still looking at it. REALLY?? It 's not like the physical menu was presented so beautifully. It was a bit ragged and extremely tired. Fortunately, the food was very tasty. They do tend to rush you though. Quick to bring you most of the food (cooked food took much longer) and quick to... View all feedback.
What Jakob Murphy doesn't like about Ichiban Fish House:
What a let down. One of my favourite jap korean comfort food places. Had the sukiyaki, soft shell crab, mackerel and a sushi dish. Sukiyaki was way over sugared, crab overfried and very small portion and the mackerel served seems to be a left over from somewhere. Waitress looks totally disinterested too. Noticed a different crew behind the counter - except one guy who's been there from day one. View all feedback.
Overall pretty good, not quite very good though (3.5 stars)It is a small and clean place, has a decent menu (with pictures.) Staffs were good in general - not the best either. Seafood items were fresh (been there twice and only had seafood plates) and good quality. Priced just about right for their quality and quantity as an a la carte Japanese restaurant.
The Lobster Roll was presented in a nice way, with the lobster tail sticking out of one of the rolls and the eight-piece roll divided up in a half formation on the plate. I tried one roll and I thought that there wasn’t very much lobster in the roll. My dining partner thought that the lobster shouldn’t have been fried with a tempura batter; it took away from the lobster taste in the sushi roll. The Fried Salmon Skin Roll was a new roll I don’t think I’ve tried before. It was interesting and its insides were all fried salmon skin. It was very crunchy but otherwise I wasn’t a huge fan of it.
Came here for lunch with my sister. Had a sushi combo and unagi
Food was fresh and well done. I know pretty well this chain, but this place- was new one for me. It's not a big restaurant, but during a lunch time I could find a table for two. I ordered sushi combo coming with salad and miso soup. It took them 15 minutes to prepare everything, but portion was big enough and tasty. In general I say that for those who work or live around- that's a good sushi place to enjoy. Good luck!
The place is too small even for my family of three. They try to put too many tables in a small amount of space. It was very uncomfortable. The food was not fresh. The sides were cheap and is not of authentic Japanese style: potato salad and coleslaw? The price is also high given the quality of food we get. We will not be going back.
