Simply the BEST Yunnan restaurant in the Vancouver area and, for me, the BEST Chinese restaurant as well. I used to live in Beijing and traveled to Yunnan often for work and eating here brings back lots of good memories. All the dishes are incredible, but I really love their sour fish in soup/broth, lotus root with pickled vegetables, rose flower cakes, and mushrooms fried in salted egg yolk batter. What Connie C doesn't like about South Silk Road:
Came on Saturday noon and we were the first people at 11:40.The rice noodle was good but there are some random ingredients (shrimp spam). The beef stew has tender beef but the stew somehow tastes like hot pot base. The sautéed mushroom is simply too salty and greasy. View all feedback.

11/10 on everything we ordered. The chicken soup made me feel like I was smothered with motherly love on condensed into a sip. Fried rice was so flavourful. Sauteed Bullfrog was exactly the dish I had been craving. Want to try more of their menu!
I ordered from the vegetarian option on skip the dish, got my meal and had few bites to find out that it had pork added to it, false advertising. Please be cautious if you have food allergies or food preferences they will add ingredients without listing them.Do NOT recommend.
Very great restaurant, pure Chinese flavour and a delicate mixture of imagination and cuisines.
