Shen Yang Kabob - Richmond

I had walked by the window of this restaurant and it looked interesting so we went back the next day. It stands among many choices of Asian restaurants in another Richmond mall complex. You can smell the cumin as you walk in the door. Most items are barbecued and fairly spicy but they do ask how spicy you would like. We had the lamb skewers (mutton) chicken skewers for our meat. Spiced with cumin and other spices it's very tasty. Four skewers come in an order. We also had the rice cake which also like everything is grilled. Side orders of cauliflower and leek are very nice and cheap as well. They have Korean dishes as well and they do bring you the Korean condiments. We ordered a Bibimbap in a stone bowl and it was delicious. We also had a piece of salmon. The bill for the 4 of us was under $50. A nice change. Give it a try. They do have some interesting other skewered items like chicken gizzards.

The service and food at this restaurant were fantastic. They serve authentic kebabs from northern China, and even gave us complimentary appetizers. I highly recommend trying their pork knuckles, lamb kebabs, and beef tendon kebabs.

The lamb kebabs at this restaurant were delicious. They were perfectly cooked and well spiced, melting in your mouth without being greasy. Despite the nearly empty restaurant, our food arrived quickly. This place definitely deserves more customers!
