Came here with my girlfriends, it was very hard to find on my GPS! It kept telling me I had arrived but I had to park and change my setting to "walk" to find this place! It was almost hidden in a parking lot, my girlfriends and I included missed it 2 times! Anyway, it was worth the hunt, especially because I haven't found another authentic Ramen shop around. We were greeted by Japanese servers. They were all very fri... View all feedback.
What User doesn't like about Sanpoutei:
Why I say that, in Japanese ramen, soup is the major, the soul and greater than everything. Deep flavored collagen soup are gently simmered for days with chef own secert ingredients. Not just add MSG or blend with cornstarch to make it thick. This is a little inadequacy of the restaurant. View all feedback.
I really enjoy the ambiance of this restaurant. They have a charming Christmas toy train display and high ceilings that give it an elegant feel. The Lunch ramen options are either chicken or fish broth, both of which are good, but I personally prefer the pork broth (Tonkotsu). I tried the spicy chicken broth, which was tasty, although the portion size was a bit small and the sliced aburi pork was thin. The service was excellent, with staff refilling water without needing to be asked. I would suggest they leave a small pitcher at the table for easier access.
My banker recommended Sanpoutei to me and I had a pleasant experience dining on delicious Japanese food. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and serves high-quality dishes from Niigata, known for its top-notch rice and sake. I enjoyed a bowl of ramen and a tasty rice bowl that I can't recall the name of. Overall, I had a great meal at Sanpoutei.
The customer service at this restaurant is very disappointing. They add egg as a topping, but only give half an egg when you order one. When I asked about this, I was told that you need to order two eggs to get one whole egg. This policy doesn't make any sense.
I come here regularly with the family (including teens). The noodles are excellent and the broth authentic. The deep-fried chicken is very good also. Parking can be difficult but never had to line up to get into restaurant. Price is a little higher, but totally worth it!
Went with a group of 4 couples on a Sunday night. Ramen was amazing! The aburi pork basically melted in your mouth (I suggest paying extra for the extra 2 pieces! . Service was good and quick although they forgot to bring out the tea one person ordered. The atmosphere was nice and the restaurant was spacious compared to other Ramen places in the lower mainland. The only downside is they wouldn't let us make multiple payments with the debit machine. They only allowed us to pay for the whole thing or split the bill into 2. That was pretty inconvenient given that they only take cash or debit.
