What User doesn't like about Parklane Chinese Restaurant:
We were there for dim sum on a slow day. Food is good but no service. Waiters like to walk around and listen in to conversations and every now and then cut in to voice his opinions. Absolutely no privacy. Cashiers routinely short changed the customers by rounding the change to the nearest 25c . if the your change is 40c you get 25c, The cashier of house kept 15c. Basically, I was waiting for a flight to transit to Toronto and I love the food from Vancouver from my previous experience.
3.5 stars Good for groups, easy to find parking belowWe were a table of eight and went for the set dinner for 10 people ($228).
I have to say the food here was really awesomeWe came as a group of 9 peopleThis restaurant is owned by the same people as Empire Group.
We had a dim sum brunch here on December and it was an altogether bad experience. We were referred here by the friendly hostess across the street at the full-up Empire Seafood restaurant. It was immediately apparent that we really didn't fit the profile...of the kind of diners the Parklane wanted, but we persevered because we were very hungry. Big mistake. Every interaction with staff was met with scowls and sighs and rolling eyes, and when the food did arrive at our table (right beside a waiters station with clattering dishes) it was at best mediocre. In many years of dining in restaurants around the world, I have never felt marginalized like this.
The Parklane is always a convenient place to enjoy dim sum. Most other Chinese restaurants in Richmond either do not offer sufficient off street parking or open much later in the morning. Although the staff at Parklane is not as cordial as some other Chinese...restaurants the caliber of the food and generous parking are significant pluses. Currently the Parklane is not wheel chair accessible as the elevator is out of order.
