Bob's Submarine Sandwiches - Richmond

Parking used to be at a premium in this mini mall but has somewhat abated somewhat since the TD Bank moved to Granville Avenue. As with most Asian merchants in Richmond only Cash/Debit Cards are accepted. I suggest to you not to order the foot long Super Sub unless you have an enormous appetite.

This restaurant is a no-frills diner that serves a variety of hot and cold sandwiches, breakfast plates, and fried chicken. I tried their large breakfast plate and it was delicious.

I have been going here for 30+ years, and they are still the best subs ever. For the meat eater, they have obscene amounts of meat in them, along the lines of a traditional Montreal smoked meat sandwich. I always get the salami & pepperoni, grilled w/mozza and onions, and a 6" is still under $5! They are a little messy, and best eaten right away as they tend to get a little soggy w/time. I'm sure everything, including the menu board, is the same as when I was a kid, and is very greasy spoon-ish, but the subs are worth overlooking the "décor". Anyone I've referred here over the years has completely agreed. I also agree w/another review, it very well might be the last cultural icon in Richmond before it became little China, Bob's subs is the ONLY reason I would venture to downtown Richmond.

This place is truely a gem!! We got the super sub with everything! There are almost no words for it....it's that good! There is a lot of food on this bun, eat it right away or you will destroy the bun! 9.9/10
