This is a great local family owned home cookin style restaurant that has a wide variety of offerings. Really good food, great staff. Highly recommended.
Visited The String Bean Restaurant for the first time last night and we had a wonderful dinner! Our waiter was fantastic, our meals were prompt and hot, and the portions were ample. Mom thought the cole slaw needed a touch of vinegar but that was theonly thing that any of us wished was different. The banana pudding is superb!!! We're already looking forward to our next visit. Thanks for a wonderful meal, String Bean!
This is a large local family home cooking style restaurant that has a variety of offers. Really good food, great staff. Very recommended.
My wife and I decided to give The String Bean a try tonight after searching Google for highly-rated restaurants and noticing that their daily special was Taco Salad. We called in our takeout order while on our way there. My wife chose the grilled tilapia. I was immediately impressed by the care and friendliness the staff showed over the phone. The customer service was excellent. The interior of the restaurant felt very welcoming. While we waited for our food, I remarked that this was what Bennigan's should have been like. The staff was just as friendly in person as they were over the phone. One waiter was on his way to sit down and eat his meal but stopped to check if we were being taken care of. Our food was ready surprisingly quickly, just about 15 minutes after placing the order. The ticket attached to the outside of the bag confirmed our order: Taco Salad (no olives) with ranch and salsa on the side, and Tilapia with steamed broccoli and corn, with tartar sauce on the side. However, when we got home, we discovered that my taco salad had been replaced with some sort of pork roast served with macaroni and cheese and corn. What a disappointment! If there were an opposite of a taco salad, this would be it. I called the restaurant to address the mix-up, and they explained that this was another employee's order, and they were all puzzled about what had happened to it. I suspect the extra taco salad was a hint of the confusion. Being too far away to return before closing, they initially offered me a credit for a free meal on my next visit. I was grateful for that, but after talking with the manager, they said they couldn’t do that. Instead, they offered to credit my card for the amount of the taco salad. As for my wife's tilapia, it looked and tasted wonderful. The fish was perfectly cooked, flaky, and had a nice char on the outside. The pork was sweet and quite heavy; I’m sure those who enjoy that type of dish would appreciate it. I even tried to make a sandwich with the meat, adding some onions to it.
The food was excellent. The appetizers were served hot and full of flavor. The main courses took a little longer than expected to arrive, but everything was accurate and served hot. I can't recommend the beef and mushroom soup enough—it was amazing! The desserts were delightful as well. I will definitely return.
