We had a lovely family visit for 12, and we had the Festive Menu. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food good and the price paid was very reasonable. We all thoroughly enjoyed our evening. View all feedback.
What 69benjamins doesn't like about Upper Boat Inn:
The food was in parts absolutely abysmal. The carvery consisted of carrots, peas and sprouts that had been there all day and were boiled to within an inch of their life, the stuffing was solid and there wasn 't much of anything else. The turkey was a carcass and the ham left was depleted to a strip thinner than Tesco wafer thin. The sausage was the best. Throw that and it would have knocked you out cold. Picture atta... Would less of star review if could, waited 45 mins for a burger, when asked how long my food would be cause seen people order same meal as me and arrived 20 mins after but still served before me, overheard staff saying they totally forgot about order. Could tell they rushed my food cause was over cooked, dry and cold burger probably from the hot tray. Gave basically handful of chips and not even an apology from anyone. Will never go again and when complained about it being cold and asked for refund they just turned away and walked away. Such a disappointment all round!!
Went for a carvery, it was busy which you would expect and front of house were lovely and amenable. The 2 lads serving the meat were shocking, their attitude was horrendous, when admin for beef, they grunted and then said no, haven't got any. No explanation, just sullen and sulky. When asked if I could have pork and crackling, I was informed they don't serve crackling. I pointed out it states on the menu there was crackling, he retorted well, I don't wrote the menu do I? The mash was grainy, there was no cheese on the cauliflower cheese. The pork was dry despite it being a new joint. All in all it wasn't a good experience at all
One of the nicest carveries we've had in a very long time. Quick service, piping hot and well cooked food with plenty of choice. We'll definitely be back when next in the area.
Food was lovely, however Yorkshire were very hard on the teeth, service was attentive and kind, the decor of the place gave it a very old fashioned feel, not a very welcoming atmosphere for younger crowd and the chairs were quite uncomfortable
We had a good experience, went as a family of 4 and reserved a table as it’s always busy. Table was ready and clean with cutlery, bar service was good. Carvery was lovely and tasty as always with plenty of food, only downfall, the gravy was very low so after sharing it out we didn’t have as much as we would have liked.
