If you are looking to experience a real Icelandic blue collar restaurant this is your place. Very tasteful comfort food in a simple shared table setup with a all-you-can-eat salad bar. Cheap options compared to other Iceland restaurants with an excellent cost-benefit.

Don't be turned away from this place because it cafeteria style. We have the goulash and the fish in curry sauce. It was a delicious and fast meal! The staff was friendly and helpful. There is also a small salad bar!
The food was very good and tasteful. Really like homemade cooking. But above all, the service and patience was to explain everything so that our Icelandic meal could be fantastic.
For a true local experience, eating with locals, true local specialties, you need to try Múlakaffi. It's open for lunch and dinner with a break in between but it's worth waiting. They serve selection of different dishes every day. Menu of the day is displayed as well as visible on the board. You choose one main and get coffee/tea, bread, salad bar access and soups to choose from. Place is large but it gets full as the food tastes like a real homemade and looks like the favourite local place for many people. Menu is only in Icelandic but they speak English and are kind to show you what they serve that day so you can choose. Also place is not as pricey as local tourist restaurants so I believe it is a good choice for your consideration. Food is really delicious. Salmon, prune soup, meat soup, onion soup, meat balls, all was amazing. I will be back for sure. Totally worth recommending.
