What Jonathan Nienow doesn't like about Minh Tuyet's Vietnamese Bistro Ltd:
After the nice picture of the vermicelli bowl here on Tripadvisor I was excited to eat here. We had the crispy chicken with peanut sauce as a starter and although it tasted good, the chicken was very tough. The small vermicelli bowls were good portions, but the taste was quite bland despite the sauce you had to poor over. We asked for spicy sauce and this helped. However, I also found the amount of protein on the hou... View all feedback.
We walked in after a long drive quite hungry. We had to wait for a table, no big deal but there was about 40% tables open. After being seated I ordered an iced coffee, a Vietnamese meal must have in my opinion. It took over ten minutes to arrive and was not worth the wait. The coffee was way to sweet and not strong at all, so not a Vietnamese coffee. I sent it back telling the server the proportions are off. Nothing was offered to rectify the problem. No biggy I had a water. The staff moves at a glacial pace so everything takes twice as long and the poor girl who they have cleaning the tables was never shown how. She was rubbing the dirt off the tables in to the bamboo placemats and then setting the table touching the part of the chopsticks you eat from with her dirty fingers. I caught a glimpse of the sanitizer bucket and it was filled with food and gray water. Way over due for a change. No food safety there. It took a long time to order but the server was polite although irritated. We ordered the sampler plater to share and the prawn kho which was a coconut curry dish with rice. The appy was excellent and it filled us up, good thing because when the main dish came out I nearly choked when I realized we just paid $22 for 4 shrimp 2 slices of corn and 1 whole carrot chopped in coconut milk and curry. Wtf?! I wasn't going to complain again but they will never see a red cent from me again and not just because Canada discontinued the penny. Lol I must give credit where it is due and the flavor was there but the value was definitely not. $16 for a Vietnamese sub yet I have never paid more then $6 in my life. I want going to start now. Save your bucks for a real Vietnamese joint. You will get a better bang for your buck.
Wonderful FRESH Food!! Authentic Vietnamese Bistro. Waygu Beef Betal rolls! Organic Chicken, No GMO"S!! Grilled Lemon grass Chicken was wonderful. Jasmine rice, side salad. Open kitchen so you can see how clean this wonderful restaurant is! Lots of Veggie options and Giant jumbo prawns! going back to try the "clay pot's a labor intensive dish that I'm sure will be as good as last nights dinner. Felt so good after eating here no 'belly bomb"
I ate at a number of places that were recommended by friends and on tripadvisor as having good plant-based options. This restaurant is new and not as well-known as other kitchens in Revvie but it is much better in quality, ambience and service.I don't know what people are talking about when they complain about the service. Our waitress was friendly, attentive but not intrusive and well-informed about the vegan options on the menu. The rice wraps, salads and clay pot were fresh and flavourful, we especially liked the African twist in the coconut lemongrass clay pot. The drinks list was interesting and the mango booch and coconut water were exotic and delicious. There was a good selection of Asian beers too, which my partner enjoyed. The restaurant has smart and elegant decor with cool liquid DnB background music which we appreciated. the kitchen is open but the staff were professional and worked quietly, unlike our experiences at other Revelstoke eateries. The prices were good too. We were surprised a how much food we got. Actually, we couldn't finish our meal!It was good to see the owner working with his team and not sitting in the restaurant stuffing his face and chatting, which was what we witnessed at another Revelstoke restaurant.I will definitely come here again when I revisit Revelstoke.
The food was delicious. Everyone in our party loved their selection. After going here, it is blatant that the restaurant needs a manager. 5 out of the appetizers were not there. This was 6 pm so they could not have run out. The waitress forgot one of our appetizers, and the kitchen screwed up 2 of the orders. A hot mess! 2 of us received our food about 15 minutes before our friends. 3 of those waiting patiently were children. A little bit of organization would go a long way to make this restaurant a 5!
We had dinner here and we were impressed! I had the House Special Rice Bowl with La Lot, chicken and a jumbo prawn. This was a new dining experience and it was delicious. It was a large portion with fresh veggies! Super filling and at the same time refreshing! We will definitely be back. The proteins were cooked to perfection and tasty! The restaurant is beautifully decorated and we loved the ambiance! Try it! You won't be disappointed!!
