Pavillion restaurant); very good Swabian Hausmanns kitchen in the Pavillion building. Very nice view, friendly service. Just what you expect in such a restaurant. Not cheap, but good. Average age over 50 years.
In short: Stunning views for which you pay on the food. You are right on the Achalm, just below the summit and have a really great view of the total surroundings (in good weather you can even see to Stuttgart on the TV tower . The building has a large front on the front side, which can also be enjoyed during the lonely picking process. Opticiously, the solitary restaurant does something right, but unfortunately I also have to make some criticism. Immediately at the arrival, the boarding and the reception is very stabbed and for me they came over almost unfriendly. The food itself is excellent but simply has the double price of a food in a restaurant that is not on a mountain. So I'm just there for a coffee at all, so the service didn't like it that I just drank my coffee and enjoyed some more of the views, I felt more than I should just drink my coffee and then quickly get out of the restaurant! Therefore, you should consider whether you are a client or whether you are simply a paying customer. Nevertheless, I give 3 instead of 2 stars because the idea of such a great mountain restaurant is simply brilliant! But as an alternative, I recommend that the restaurant Waldcafe, which is not so far remote, is also located on the mountain (but below the Alb, as both the views and the hospitality are right there.
If a mushroom dish stands on the menu for €17.50 and is advertised in it with fresh forest mushrooms, then it is disappointing when small campions are on the plate. At home I can open a can Aldi and don't have to take the difficult trip on me.
We stopped for a late coffee at the Achalm. The view, combined with the play of light from the setting sun, was simply breathtaking. The cake and the food we ordered were excellent. The service was friendly and efficient. Prices are reasonable. The surrounding area offers lovely opportunities for a walk. We'd love to come back.
First things first, the food was absolutely divine. I was familiar with the place from work, so I wanted to treat my wife to a special view for dinner. Not only does the view here look fantastic, but the food is simply divine! We had roast goose breast with dumplings and red cabbage, as well as roast beef with onions, spaetzle, and gravy. The red cabbage was creamy and had a hint of Christmas. The goose was incredibly tender, and the dumplings were so delicious we're speechless. The roast beef was cooked medium, just the way I wanted it—as tender as a baby's bottom—and the pasta had a delicate, buttery flavor. For dessert, we both had crème brûlée. Another taste sensation was guaranteed. All in all, a perfect 10/10, so a 6-star rating!
