Cafe Azafran - REHOBOTH BEACH

Very disappointed by the service in this place. The restaurant itself was nice enough, great ambience and good food, but the service left much to wish. We were greeted by the host who was not very friendly from the beginning. Anyway, he sat all of us, was good when our waiter took over, who was super friendly and nice? gave us great suggestions for ordering including our 3 years old daughter. The food was pretty good shrimp ratatouille tapas; my husband?s crab cakes were delicious; and my seafood stew was good even though I had better. The worst thing happened when we got drinks. I have our waiter recommendation the key lime martini, which was like key lime cake in a glass? absolutely delicious. But when I ordered a second glass, they brought it to me that I spilled out of the glass? looked like someone threw up the whole glass and the napkins they brought. It was so chaotic that the host (as the rude guy had to take care of it. That was all right, I didn't see it too much. Although in such an expensive place you thought they had given me another drink or at least transferred to a clean glass. Anyway, I could over all that until I accidentally spilled the glass half the drink mostly because the table she sat our party from 3 was so tiny and sat directly on a column that there is no elbow space. One of the waiters took up the glass and he was nice, but the host came over to purify the mess when I apologised to him, he did not accept a word of even my apology. It's not like I'd let it fall as if he could have acknowledged my apology, especially if he didn't even apologize when he served me the drink in a dirty glass spilled over sticky to the touch. Most of them hadn't offered me a replacement (most upscale, OVERPRICED restaurants like these would have brought a replacement unasked and accused me of the FULL PRICE for the drink. I don't think our waiter was involved in this bad treatment, and probably wasn't even aware of the spilled drink, so I'm accusing the terrible host. This is the type of service (or service) that leaves a BAD TASTE in the mouth, whether the taste of food. Don't go back.

Such an enjoyable place for a casual dinner. We enjoyed pan seared duck breast as the main course and a side of spinach ricotta gnocchi and beef short rib Burris tacos. Wow! We can?t wait to go back!

Had the spinach and ricotta gnocchi and crab cakes. Presentation and combination of flavors delicious. Well worth a try. A little more expensive than your average restaurant. You will need reservations and please be kind to your server. Short staffed and they are doing their best. Able to talk without shouting. You know what I mean. Setting sun came in side windows and better light filtering is needed. All in all a great experience.

Loved this eatery before Covid and just went back and love it again!! Ordered tapas style meals; scallops and muscles were a hit and we enjoyed the grilled Caesar, duck tacos!! Beautiful desserts topped off with a cappuccino! Great food had the best waiter, Matt!! Thank u!!!

The tapas were very solid, each having a unique character and distinct flavor. My favorites were the scallops, and the sliders, which were juicy and caramelized. The rest was good, but less memorable. The portions are large, preferably for sharing my 3 or 4 people.
