What Mathias Ullrich doesn't like about Biscuits and Broths Cafe:
I ordered an eggplant dish from the "vegetable" section of the menu. It contained ground beef. I haven't eaten ground beef in five years because it makes me sick. I ordered a dish that was advertised as rice noodles, shrimp and vegetables. It had more shreds of pork and beef in it than shrimp and I also haven't eaten pork and beef in five years because it makes me sick. When I complained they refused to offer me a re... I ordered couple dishes for lunch take out from Orchid. It was very easy way to order my take out by Skip the Dishes online.
We were a group of 20 people who were hungry for Chinese food. We walked in this small restaurant and asked if they could serve 20 persons. With an affirmative reply, we all sat down and looked at the menu. Typical Chinese dishes, well prepared with a friendly service. The food was very tasty, on the spicy side for some dishes, so ask before you order they can adjust the very spicy to low spicy. I ordered a Singapore style noodle and my wife had a Cantonese Chow mien. Our friends ordered 2 different dishes but had to leave one as it was extremely spicy.By the time we had our meal served, some of our friends had already finished their meal. But it was worth it. One small problem, they had no alcool licence, a beer, or a glass of wine or sake would have been nice to accompany our food.
Orchid Cafe just got new owners as of October and makes delicious quality food. I've had Chinese food at different locations in the city and this is by far the best! Everything is made fresh to order and the chef even trained in New York for 6 years in Chinatown at a well-known restaurant. If you are in a hurry, the daily specials are a great choice or they have noodle bowls that are quick. Soups and sandwiches are also available to grab-and-go! I recommend this restaurant for sure (even though parking is difficult to find downtown; it's well worth it!)
I really enjoyed the food and will definitely order from here again. The only issue was that the most expensive dish was the least satisfying - the pork was overly fatty. Other than that, the flavors and presentation were fantastic.
