Hard to track this down on Trip Advisor which is probably why there are only reviews. This is the Bat and Ball Hotel's restaurant. We went here for a Sunday roast and it was great. There was a choice between pork and lamb ..both tender and perfect. There were some great ales on tap. View all feedback.
What Georges Diallo doesn't like about Parkside Bar at The Bat & Ball:
Was seriously overcharged for a drink at this place. We had dinner and then each had a drink after before going home. for a cocktail and we weren\'t told the prices or given a receipt or bill for the drink. Didn\'t find out until...we got home and saw the charge on our cards. View all feedback.
Solid burgers and fries. A mate and I cleaned up and ordered one of all the burgers on the menu and struggled to finish lol. The brioche was a little to buttery and rich. Loved the beef burgers, Mac and cheese was good but would prefer it in a combo burger. Great service guys keep it up
Don't always judge a pub by its facade, because sometimes (not always) it might turn out to be a gem despise scruffy exterior. I never felt the temptation to visit this pub but after exhausting all options in Surry Hills for a first time experience, we popped in Bat and Ball for a quick drink. Apart from lager on tap, there is also a good selection of craft beer. For a pint of craft beer (New Towner) and a glass of wine, it's $18, not bad by Surry Hills standard. The interior and random objects suggest this is an English themed pub - large London Underground network map on one end and dartboard on the other. Multiple mounted TV screens were showing different sports channels. A whiff of roast meat travelled pass me and landed on the table next to us. Boy they looked good with all the trimmings. Apart from Sunday roast, most weeknights they offer $11.90 special meal. Next time I am too lazy to cook, this could be a cheap and cheerful option. thernbdiary.com
They do not offer a single meal that is completely vegetarian and when I asked if they could simply remove the cheese from a dish the employee said she wasn't even going to suggest it to the kitchen because they don't like "substitutions". The staff were very rude and instead of politely telling me it couldn't be done she made sure to act like I was being a very difficult customer in having asked. No vegetarian options and rude service.
The Parkside bar at the Bat and Ball is the bar that Sydney FC's supporter group 'The Cove' drink before home games at the SFS. Normally I predrink in Paddington, but I heard about their 'Tuesday night burger special' and I knew I just had to try it. I ordered the no-frills named 'Hamburger'. The presentation of the burger was really nice and looked like a classic 'hamburger' should look like. Whilst the pattie was cooked a little more than I'd like, it was still moist and juicy, with the flavours on the burger working so well. The red onion, tomato and lettuce were fresh and provided a tasty crunch with each bite. The burger sauce was flavoursome and was perfectly applied so it gave a well rounded burst of flavour without overpowering the whole burger. The chips (note - not fries) were awesome, and come in one of those classic hot chips cups. Cooked perfectly, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The pub itself is a pretty nice venue with cosy lounges along the Clevenland Street wall. Out the back theres even a real dartboard (none of this electronic ****!) with a chalkboard so you can keep score! Overall the food is good, and they even do a Sunday Roast. Theres a really good selection of craft beers on tap to choose from as well. Overall a top pub. Good grub, good drink, good times. Will be back for sure!!!
