Great sushi! Again, great sushi. Good prices, plentiful amount. Service was good. Loved the decor, the big corner tree really helped the ambiance. Cooked nonfish food is also available. Parking nearby but no specific area designated for the restaurant. Highly recommend View all feedback.
What Joshua M doesn't like about Sushi Maru Japanese:
First off the hours are terrible It’s never open during normal eating hours. I ended up going for a date and found that the service was horrible. The waitress was nice but very unmotivated, the food was super good and quite well priced, and the restaurant is very nicely decorated. I would suggest going for the food but don’t be too excited for the rest! View all feedback.
Food wasnt the best. Has definately gone down hill since my last visit. Service was poor, food timing was poor (people at the table didn 't get their food until the others were almost finished). The servers weren 't at all attentive to our needs. Oyakidon was mushy bland and late. Sushi and tempura was ok. Disappointed.

Their service is top notch, their salmon amd tuna sashimi melts in your mouth. There isnt free pop refills but with food this amazing and this affordable it doesnt matter.
First, don’t believe these people rated as “local guides”. They’re local guides because they haven’t left Lacombe their entire lives. Sushi maru is hit-or-miss. If you’re looking for authentic sushi, you won’t find it here. The tuna tataki I wouldn’t get again. They tend to drown their maki in sauce, and most of them are california roll variants. Sashimi wasn’t incredibly fresh but it was okay. I tend to stick to anything cooked here, just in case. The interior... I know they’re in the teardown that is the LH and they’re dressed it up a tiny bit, but it could use some serious investment. I guess for a small meat-and-potatoes farm town you can’t expect much more.
I really want to like this place, but the sushi and service has never been good for me. While ordering for pick up they've put the phone down to help someone else and forgot that I was on the line, I waited 10 minutes before hanging up. 20 minutes after hanging up they tried calling me back, I can only assume that's when they finally remembered someone had called in. On a separate occasion I had to wait at least 5 minutes for the server to notice me waiting to pay, there were two tables with customers who she wasn't attending to while I waited. The sushi is the same quality you can buy in a grocery store. If you want sushi this good, save yourself some money and go to sobeys
