After touring the 5 amazing monuments, this place in Piazza Popolo offered us very a relaxing afternoon break on our way back to train station. Excellent snack, wine and coffee in sunny outdoor seat. Service was good. View all feedback.
What suzigun doesn't like about Tazza D'oro:
A good spot to stop for lunch. They offer a good range of lunch/sandwich options. They're not exciting but they're a lighter option than having a pasta or pizza for lunch. View all feedback.
We had coffee here three times in our week in Ravenna. Perfectly reasonable coffee and friendly staff but the big plus of course is the location on Piazza del Popolo. Great place to sit in the sun for half an hour or so and people-watch.
Ok, so first I’m laughing at the negative reviews of this place from fellow Americans who don’t travel to Europe much or they wouldn’t be so shocked about certain service expectations or the conditions of a bathroom you’re in Italy, be happy they even had a toilet for you to use! So that said, this was a wonderful location and we actually stopped here twice while in Ravenna. You are right in the Piazza enjoying all the activity while sipping on reasonably price drinks, beer and wine. They serve drinks with a nice complimentary snack tray. The food was good had a charcuterie board, bruschetta and tortellini. It was all very reasonable for the area and location. But it’s not fine dining, but that’s not why we wanted to be there. The service was good, but you have to be proactive they literally had 3 or 4 front side wait staff working the entire place. They were responsive and friendly once you had their attention. Remember where you are they’re not going to bug the **** out of you like the US. If you need something let them know otherwise they just assume you’re enjoying your table and experience. Finally we used the restroom and it was seriously not that bad. We’ve had some crazy bathroom stories while traveling and this place is not one of them. A single dedicated guest toilet is much more than you see at a lot of establishments in Europe. I recommend this spot and will return when next in Ravenna.
We arrived in Ravenna mid-morning and went straight to Piazza del Popolo and decided to have a coffee before we started our tour. We were served by a very pleasant and helpful young lady and were so impressed with the cleanliness and service that we decided to go back for lunch. Lunch consisted of Aperol Spritz with Prosciutto e Melone which was absolutely delicious. We had generous portions, the melon chilled, flavourful and juicy, the thinly sliced prosciutto light and tasty the best we have had in Italy so far. The whole meal was very reasonably priced, particularly in the centre of a busy tourist area, and it was nice to sit and watch the visitors in such a famous square. The restaurant is very clean and well maintained, the service was excellent, lovely staff and we can definitely recommend this restaurant.
I AM AMAZED THAT THIS PLACE IS ALLOWED TO TRADE BY THE ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT IN RAVENNA. NOT ONLY WERE THE DRINKS SERVED IN GRUBBY GLASSES ON A FILTHY TABLE CLOTH, BUT WHEN ONE OF OUR PARTY WENT TO USE THE UNISEX TOILET THERE WAS NO TOILET PAPER, NO HOT WATER AT THE SINK, NO HAND SOAP, NO MEANS OF DRYING HANDS. IN ADDITION TO THIS THE WAITRESS SERVICE WAS SLOW AND UNFRIENDLY. TO CAP IT ALL WE WERE OVERCHARGED! WHEN THIS WAS POINTED OUT WE WERE ASSURED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A REVERSAL ON THE CARD AND THAT WE HAD THEN BEEN CHARGED THE CORRECT SUM OF 20 EUROS. WE HAD NO MEANS OF CHECKING THIS TILL WE RETURNED TO THE UK 3 DAYS LATER WHEN WE FOUND THAT NO REVERSAL HAD TAKEN PLACE OF THE 40 EURO OVERCHARGE, BUT THAT THE CORRECT PAYMENT OF 20 EUROS HAD ALSO BEEN TAKEN! THERE ARE NO POSITIVES TO WRITE ABOUT HERE AVOID THIS PLACE LIKE THE PLAGUE THAT IT WILL PROBABLY SPREAD!!
The service not too friendly or welcoming, table was dirty, we ordered two drinks, after waiting for around 20 minutes we just left. Nobody noticed.
