I was staying on my own at the Mercure Hotel and I really didn't want to go to the McDonald's across the road and the hotel restaurant was soulless. I looked on Trip Advisor and this place is 5mins walk around the corner. What a pleasant surprise. Really nice food and friendly staff even though they couldn't speak to me the menu is English. Excellent meals, generous helpings, best schnitzel I ever tasted. Staff were not able to speak English but the menus were bilingual and presented no difficulty. Reasonable prices.
We had not booked, but we re found a spot at the end of the bar. The place was rather full, and busy. Service prompt, and a wide selection of foods. They even had a Sunday lunch menu. Most tables had a reservation sign on...them and people were coming in. Drinks and food came quickly all foods were fresh and the salad, really good.

I was staying in the Mercure hotel due to a business trip and was recommended by the hotel staff to visit this restaurant. What a nice surprise! Wonderful old house looks typically German to me), friendly service, not expensive and, most important, good and...freshly prepared food. I especially liked their pancakes with sweet sauce and hot cherries for dessert, very good! I can warmly recommend this place to travelers who are staying in the Mercure hotel.
There are local people dinning. This says many times something about the quality\price. I stayed at Mercure hotel and I was glad that we took diner here.
