Still sitting at the restaurant while I write this. I was looking for a nice seafood buffet to enjoy on my last night in town and found The Square. It was well priced, close to the hotel, and had great reviews, so I made reservations online for 8pm tonight. I arrived at 750pm and got seated. The server explained how everything works with the fancier seafood, like the grilled giant prawns at the grill. You can place orders for two at a time and then they bring it to your table. It's supposed to take 5 mins or so to get your order. I drop my order at 755pm and go browse the offerings. I grab a plate of some steamed crabs, dim sum, and roast beef and head to my table expecting the prawns to arrive shortly. 812pm rolls around and still nothing so I ask my server and he tells me it'll be 10 mins or so to get my order. I express to him that I've been waiting for 17 mins already. He apologizes and gets the manager for me. I explain the situation and he is very apologetic and offers bring my orders to me. The next 45 mins we're a blur of prawns and other grill items. Needless to say, he turned it around quick. I spent about 8 years working in high end hospitality and understand that things don't always go right but how you solve the problem for the customer is what they walk away remembering. This is true of tonight, hence my 5 stars here. As for the rest of the buffet, it was mostly excellent quality food all around. Roast beef, lamb, steamed crabs, chilled oysters, and chilled shrimp on the center station. Another station has an assortment of sushi and salad. The stations in front were dim sum, dessert, and a street noodle bar. Some items were not refreshed as often as they should have been but it wasn't a busy night. The main attraction however was the grilling area where all the seafood came from. It also has a fresh pasta bar with a delicious parmesan wheel carbonara. There are also an assortment of hot dishes lining the area with contain curries, stir frys, etc. All the seafood from the grill was excellent. Overall, this ended as a great experience with great food and I will be recommending it to my friends who travel here. And I will certainly be back too.
Value for money, Variety of dimsum with roasted ducks, peking ducks. Good for family weekend lunch.
Overrated. Small selection. Grilled with sauces: Slipper shrimp, river prawns, two spot shrimp, fried fish, crab heads, bland wagyu slices on banana leaf, cockles... then your standard one or two meats, local Thai foods. Looks good for all the Ig'ers, but foodies avoid this one, robust local flavors are NOT there. Better to hit the food court, street vendors, or the night market food stalls.
Very poor quality of food, photos on reviews are not true to the actual. Had the crab special international buffet, but every crab we ate was mushy. Seafood was not fresh, sashimi was left out for too long. Felt cheated by the price and lack of quality.
Had a seafood dinner buffet here. The buffet started at 5.30 pm and last for 4.5 hours! Seafood was great, especially steamed mud crabs. Crab baked with vermicelli in clay pot is a must try too. K.Kris and his staffs were always on hand to serve, clear the dishes and recommend some more food for us to try! 5 stars for food and services.
