I don't understand why this place is so popular. The cleanliness is suspect and the atmosphere when you walk in is appalling. The ramen was okay, but I was more concerned about the hygiene while dining there. I noticed many takeout orders, furniture that looked patched up, and an air conditioning system that was not working properly. They had to use a makeshift hose with a fan, which was leaking water. It was a one-time visit for us, and we will not be returning.

Akio-sans food and kindness is well known to the locals for real home japanese food. Always prepared fresh there is never a complaint when a nice hot meal is presented infront of me. Anytime a new dish is on menu Akio-San has a reason or story behind it from being from his childhood to being a specialty of Miyazaki, you know he puts real care into his dishes or creations. My personal favourites are the teriyaki chicken bento, pork katsudon, tempura prawn udon, aji fry bento, agedashi fried tofu or katsu curry. I 'm eager to try the food next door that he owns 'Overtone Cafe ' next time that he happily told me about the where the meats and what grades they are, all about the dishes and even the vegetarian and vegan menu.

Exceptional Japanese food in a humble setting. They choose to focus their time and investment in the quality of the food, not decorating the windows and upgrading the tables which in our superficial Instagram culture is refreshing. I've not had a better Japanese meal in Darwin, possible not in Australia, Looking forward to returning and trying more of the menu

Dont judge a book by its cover. Place might not have all the bells and whistles but the staff are friendly and the food is even better
