The owner was so friendly and every recommendation was superb. My family enjoyed the fresh fish, lamb chops, pasta dishes, amazing desserts and complimentary limoncello. You will not find this place in passing, as it is off the beaten path but it was well worth our 20 minute drive from Camogli. If near the area, we highly recommend. (we did make a reservation. . . . .
A hidden gem in a quite area with lots of car parking, this was quite the find. Lovely outside seating area, where we could watch the wild bore walk around the area, amazed. The food, we had the octopus starter it was done superb. It fell apart and the texture was superb, so many places can mess octopus up but not these guys. Mains the Scampi (Craw Fish) was simply superb, the lemon sauce amazing, I’m told it’s a rare recipe but worth a visit for this alone. Other meals the rolled sea bream was extremely popular. In all a fantastic dinner, only down side it’s a tadge costly. But was worth the expense.
We're regulars in the Portofino area, and we've tried dozens of restaurants there. Madalu' stands out, let me tell you why: -fantastic location, in the Valle Christi neighborhood, which is very quiet (excellent after an hectic day at Santa Margherita) and really nice (the church below is magnificent). -the terrazza is one-of-a-kind for an Alfresco dining, with very nice views on the church and Valle Christi area, I strongly advise that you reserve a table there in advance as there are not many tables outside -the waiters and owners are nice and welcoming, in fact we found them to be one of the nicest people we encountered during our vacation -menu is very interesting, with some dishes you'll not find anywhere else in the Rapallo area, like Calamari and tomato salad (incredibly good), Cappon Magro (a very particular starter made of seafood and vegetables, really amazing) and all the dishes that they prepare with fresh Porcini mushrooms: pasta with Porcini, fish with Porcini, etc... -quality/price ratio is good and honest, and they also have Sicilian wines like Inzolia and Sabbie dell'Etna!!! All in all we definitely recommend Madalu', and we will certainly be back there ASAP!
A very nice place on the hill. Thanks to my favorite green grocer in Rapallo, we had discovered this nice place. The plates are really good and very well presented. We had: grilled octopus with potato, mussels, small bundle of “pasta brick” filled with goat cheese and honey as appetizers, tuna, an amazing seafood plate (I can’t describe it but please see the pic and fresh pasta with scampi. We finished with a Cafè gourmand and they offered us limoncello. Last but not least. as a final good surprise a very good value for money. We will definitely come back!
