Some of the best Chinese that I have had anywhere. I have pretty much tried the entire menu and it is always a pleasure ordering food from this little gem. The crispy beef and salt pepper prawns are amazing. View all feedback.
Secluded in a parking lot with one other restaurant, yung Chen has a food truck kind of vibe and a hole in the wall ambience... But man oh man do they make good food. The yung Chen special, crispy calamari, won tons, springrolls and cashew nut beef are just a few of my favourites . Food is freshly prepared and they are always busy. The old man that takes your order makes me wish he was my grandfather and he always calls me young lady which I kind of love. Prices are super reasonable (between R60 and R80 for the prawns), and I feel very new Yorky when I go there. All that's missing is the American Chinese take away boxes. It's a gem you can easily overlook but please don't.
Delicious chinese food. Every bite of their chow mein is flavorful and the consistency of their noodles are the best! The cashew nut chicken and chow mein (all variants) are my regular choices. Service is always pleasant and fast.

A diamond in the rough, you’ll find this gem tucked away in the Shepherd Market on Jan Smuts.<br/ <br/ The owner is present, welcoming and attentive <br/ The atmosphere is laid back and informal, there is very little sitting space as most individuals order to go <br/ <br/ Their menu is quite extensive and offers a host of pork, chicken, prawn and beef options <br/ <br/ For starters we had their spring rolls, which are 4 per portion and quite large in size (ideal for sharing) and for mains, my mother had their Sweet Sour Chicken “The Number Two”, while I opted for the Crispy Chicken and Rice “The Number Five”. This planned out to be some of the best Crispy Chicken I’ve tasted in a while.
Makes for a great takeaway if Chinese is what you’re feeling for. I’d recommend their sweet sour chicken or beef chow mein, those are my favourites. Food has been consistent and service is very good.
