Was Anonym at Le Galoubin a mag?
very good hotel, very welcoming, very clean, we eat very well ! for the rooms, nothing red, good bedding, very clean, very quiet. I really recommend this hotel-restaurant! thanks for your welcome View all feedback.

What Anonym dislikes about Le Galoubin:
the restaurant is good and the hotel staff is friendly. but the hotel is not worth it. the room was very small and the hygienic article (a 10ml shampoo! is provided only once and is not refilled the next day. Moreover, there is no sufficiently warm water. I would expect more for 90€ night. View all feedback.

We were moored on the canal next to the restaurant, so went for a relaxing lunch after some boat problems. We were seated under an awning next to the garden: it was a v hot day at 38 C. We chose the vegetarian menu of the day and enjoyed it very much. A crisp fresh salad with walnuts was followed by a soya fritter with a stewed mixed vegetable accompaniment which, as other reviewers have noted, tasted much better than it looked. All accompanied by generous baskets of bread. We had water and cool light beer in the mid-day heat. There was a choice of desserts: we enjoyed crème caramel and pear tart, with coffee. We recommend it as a simple but good lunch stop.

Stopped for lunch at Le Galoubin when cycling along the beautiful Doubs river. Really good menu de jour on the terrace, simple but well done. Vegetable tartlet, turkey escalope with French beans and creme caramel. With wine and coffee for €13 it was great value and enjoyable

To be fair we arrived Late for lunch so were fortunate to be served at all. The service was fine and as you’d expect so no complaints there, staff helpful and friendly. We went for the menu du jour, which was good value. The food was fine but again not exceptional, starting with a strange chicken in aspic entrée described as a pate it was not what we expected and while nothing wrong with it , it would not have been our choice had we known in advance. Main course was a piece of beef grilled with vegetables, the meat was a little over cooked but tender and flavoursome but the vegetables lack lustre and tired. We finished with either cheese plate or ice cream both of which were fine. House wine fine and good value. Overall then it was fine, we’d probably eat there again but it wasn’t exceptional.

We were passing by on the canal and moored in Ranchot, surprised and delighted to find the adjacent hotel/restaurant. On checking the menu, we decided to give it a go. Service was very good and our charming and delightful waitress offered us service in English. The drinks menu was remarkably good value with a Kir at 2€ and our very acceptable bottle of Cotes du Rhone at just 14€. The sounds of microwave pinging raised some concerns. We went a la carte and enjoyed a very good and tasty twice baked soufflé swimming in a bath of cream. Our main course of chicken arrived cold but was swiftly removed and reheated on request with no bother at all. The Ratatouille served with it was very tasty. A café gourmand was the best such example that we have come across thus far and my iced soufflé Macvin with cherries was delicious. Not haute cuisine but very acceptable at the price.

Very pleasant stay: clean and quiet room, generous breakfast, hearty and local menu. Ideally located for cyclists. We recommend it!
