Great place to eat! The last time I visited was in 2016, haha. I ordered the original French toast, but I had initially intended to get the stuffed blueberry French toast. They were likely the same price and both equally delicious, so it didn't really matter to me. Thanks! View all feedback.
Quality Diner food with a charming atmosphere that will surely fill you. The biggest shock for me when I moved to California after I grew up in Oklahoma was that Diners and Diner Food were held here in higher terms. Where I came from, Diner Essen is a simple clamp that you can surely find in every small town. Greasy Löffel Tariff is not something you will win any award, but it is good and fill. It was everywhere I grew up. When I moved to the land of Avacados and Burritos, it is one of the first things I noticed that Diner type food is special for people out here. It is not at every corner, so they appreciate it and celebrate the kind of food. So, if I see Diners with big reviews, I have to admit, I take it right away with a grain of salt. This is the kind of food I had most of my life and it takes a lot to impress me. Black Bear Diner fits directly into this form. Charming setup that looks like an extended diner filled with busy waiters smiles and sleeps food and plates everywhere. The food is fat, tasty and fills and there is a ton to choose from. We had nothing we didn't like, but the food fell right into the category of what is to be expected. The staff looked short and they were all super nice and professional. We waited a bit, but didn't bother us because when we were helped, they made us feel at home. The only food I liked was the chicken steak. It tasted very similar to me having it home and that's not a simple trick. They didn't need a knife to cut it. I'm a little stuffed when it comes to Diner, but I had so many recommendations from this place that I had to try. The food is great, the staff is fantastic and the place is warm and welcoming. If you enjoy Diners, you will surely love this place. When you grew up like me and grew up in this kind of stuff, it is a good place to scratch old memories with foods that will definitely trigger a nostalgia.
The entrance to the restaurant has a sign asking for patience as they hire staff and deal with the current challenges. That being said, the food was decent. My waffle was tasty and thick, the eggs were fluffy, and the bacon was crispy. My son's cub cake was cute and fluffy. His hot chocolate came piled high with whipped cream. Hubby's omelet was delicious. The hash browns were not very crispy but they were okay and the portions were sized generously. He said the biscuits and gravy were good, too. Just a few issues the limited staff made for slow service. I had to ask for refills on the coffee, which tasted watered down. The decor is meant to be kitschy but it seemed dated. The prices were not great but the portions made it a good value.
Ordered a California omelette and a Vegetarian omelette and came with choice of toast or pancakes. We got pancakes to go with our coffee. Omelette were delicious. Pancakes were good. Customer service was good.
Excellent staff and service! Waitress was super nice and attentive, always coming around to refill my coffee! Food was delicious, i ordered the California Bacon Bear Benedict. 10/10 highly recommend!
Delicious food and great service! We were seated right away upon arriving, Mario took our orders right away and food was brought out promptly. Great place to eat with the kids and the booths are so spacious. Generous portions for kids meal at such a great price too!
