Rancagua is a city and community located in the province of Cachapoal within the Bernardo O'Higgins Region. Rancagua means "place of cane fields" in the Mapuche language -mapudungun-. Corn, tomatoes, vegetables, and wheat are cultivated among other things, which are used to make typical dishes of the area such as corn pie (a paste made with tender corn, known as "choclo"), humitas (a cornmeal cake cooked inside corn husks), carbonada (a soup made with corn, peaches, sweet potatoes, and other fruits), and other dishes. Although in Rancagua you can also find a good variety of restaurants with all kinds of food, such as Azuma, known for their specialty in sushi and other Japanese dishes, as well as cocktails like piña colada or mojitos in different flavors. They also offer a Happy Hour from Monday to Thursday to try them out.
