All the wines beers were lovely an... read more Honestly the best meal we've had in a long time! Every course was so tasty and the crispy lamb skin was amazing (who knew?! . All the wines beers were lovely and the general ambience of the restaurant was cosy and relaxed. Felt like really good value for money and there's more than enough food especially with all the little extras. We'll definitely be back.

It was lovely to be able to enjoy fresh food that the Chef clearly cared about and not be rushed we were there all evening. We will definitely be back soon!

Initially apprehensive because of the set menu and wine package as I’m rather traditional... read more Visited Roots yesterday with friends to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Initially apprehensive because of the set menu and wine package as I’m rather traditional with my food choices and I don’t drink wine. I needn’t have been so concerned. With the exception of the mains and dessert I had never tried the combination of foods presented to me and I would never order them from a menu. Of the eight courses served I thoroughly enjoyed seven of them. Some of the tastiest food that I have ever had. The only course I didn’t particularly enjoy was the goats cheese purely down to personal taste, my wife loved it however. Each course was served with a wine to compliment the dish. I’m not a wine drinker but there was a nice selection of bottled ales to choose from. The young staff were attentive, polite and professional. The chef was there in full view of the diners preparing each dish and was extremely friendly. I loved my experience at Roots. It took me out of my comfort zone and made me try different dishes. Highlight for me was the Onion Bhaji but I was heard saying on numerous occasions throughout the evening “I could eat that again.” Will definitely return.
