This was well worth the driv... read more Even though I had visited the Hintersee before, I was not aware of the Seeklause until our hostess in Berchtesgaden recommended it. This was well worth the drive, for the setting on the lake as well as some of the best food I have eaten...in Bavaria and the Salzburg area. We arrived around p.m. on a Sunday and lucked out, securing not only a rare open parking spot, but also an outside table, as both were in high demand that day. The view alone was great, and the food was just as good. We both ordered the schnitzel, which was cooked perfectly and came with a cranberry relish as well as potatoes. Supposedly, anybody can cook schnitzel, but I have been disappointed many times, even in Bavaria. This was breaded just right and cooked perfectly, neither greasy nor overcooked. And, though the waiter said the cranberries are traditionally served with schnitzel, I had not seen it before. Too many touristy places for me, I presume. Anyway, served with a cold beer in that setting, it was a memorable meal

We decided to come here for dinner, because the terrace overlooking the lake looked quite promising. We ordered their special offer – grilled pork...with vegetables for two. The vegetables were kind of soggy and they almost all tasted the same, the meat was tender. The food was okay, but nothing special

Goulash soup, asparagus soup and the local fish platter were all excellent. Soup portions were a meal by themselves. Service was prompt and friendly. It was great to find excellent...food in such a scenic location

Special thank to their staff especially Wassi, he was extremely nice, hospitable and knew english which is a big plus for non-german tourists!
